Need Help! Tire Size for 18"x8.5" Upgrade?
I searched this forum and literally found thousands of threads. Most 18" rims were "staggered" sizes (18x8 front & 18x9 rear). Tire sizes varied from 225/45 to 275/40 to 275/35, and in between. The more I read, the more confused I got, and quit when I got a headache.
I want to upgrade my Base 17" rims and found a good deal on a set of 18"x8.5" rims (front & rear) that I like. I was told that I needed 235/40 or 245/40 tires. But I also found a good deal on a set of 225/40 tires, that the seller claimed would fit.
Question 1 - Will the 225/40 fit the 8.5" wide rims (offset=+35)?
Question 2 - If they fit, will I have any problems, i.e., Speedo inaccuracy? ABS problems? Handling differences?, etc.
Any info will help since I'm clueless.
