In your opinion, is it "rice" to put newer style OEM wheels on an Z that didnt come with that style? I know opinion questions can be dangerous but i wanted to know if there was a consensus. I mean its kind of like making it something its not (newer model) but then again its not like badging it inappropriately (type R on a non type R etc etc). I dunno, what do you guys think?
It's not rice . . . you're basically just upgrading your Z with the newer models' style. Common upgrades ('03-'05 to '06 OEM parts) are swapping rims, headlights, taillights, and brakes.

I wasnt asking what "I should do". It was just an opinion question. I just wanted to see what the consensus was. I have driver upgrades to do before I buy wheels. Ive only had my Z for a few months and im still getting the hang of what it can do.
This question doesn't even make sense.
OEM, by design, cannot be rice unless you're putting an OEM GTR emblem on your Z. In that case, yes it would be rice. In this case it is an "upgrade" within our 350z model line which is perfectly fine.
In the near future I'll be picking up some '06+ LED's, but I promise I won't ask if it is rice.

lol it's not rice at all, it's fine. looks good regardless. with the Z, all the 03-05 guys want to swap to 06 tail lights and headlights, but with the sti, all the 06-07 guys want our 04-05 tail lights cuz they look better, most of the time, oem parts will look good.
