Default Has anyone bought Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires?

I am considering getting a pair of 225/45 R18 and pair of 245/45 R18 Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires for my 2006 Touring oem rims. The primary reason is for the 40K tread life warranty. I was able to stretch 27k out of my RE040 oem tires. I came across various threads in this forum of people considering these tires, but no conclusions. I also googled these tires and came across other forums (BMW, Honda, Toyota, etc.) and all were positive comments. I use my Z as an everyday car in Florida, so snow is no concern. From a performance standpoint, I don't take my car to the track so I am willing to sacrifice some grip for longevity. Any comments? Thanks.

I had looked at the 960s, but bought Falken ze912s instead. They also have a 40k warranty and have great traction in the rain and snow.

I have them on my Z and my parents maxima. They're good tires. I wouldnt see them lasting 40k miles, but I'm lowered and I do a lot of stop and go traffic. They're very good in the rain and decent in the snow. I havnt had a problem with them yet. So far I have 15k miles on them on the Z, and 10k on the maxima. They're wearing much better on the maxima than the Z.

I had Blizzaks in the past and they were no doubt serious snow tires. I bought the 960AS last year and found them very good in the snow, no problems at all. What I found even better was they were so much more quiet than my KDW's. I hope to get more 30k out of them, but that is about the max. I found very little to no difference in the traction between the 960AS and the KDW in high performance driving.

I woulsn't put too much faith into a 40,000 warranty. You return the tires at 20,000 miles, and get $5 credit using some bogus prorated chart.

just bought the 960's. Can't give you too much info since I only had them put on a week ago and only done like 10 miles on em. I bought them over the ze912's because I was more interested in dry traction and bridgestone's seem to always excel there. Ze912's are most likely going to be better in the snow, but I dont imagine I'll be doing a lot of snow driving (just in case though).

I have them. Good all around tire. Great Wet weather traction compared to stockers.

+1!

Use the mileage "warranty" more as a guide to how many miles you will get out of them, given your driving style and camber/toe settings. Then if the tires meet your grip and seasonal needs, buy them.
