18's vs. 19's, Dents... opinions
I've been wrecking my brain over the past two weeks on my Volk GTS order. A number of things have come into play with fit. I know to tuck the wheel while slamming the car and still having the camber in OEM spec needs be close to a +30 offset. While I don't plan to slam it, I want it to clear with a nice drop after rolling.
All that aside, I have had some bad and good experiences with pot holes and dented lips. Bare with me here while I explain. My first set of wheel for my Altima coupe where 5Zigen 5ZR's 19x7.5 all around with 225/40/19's (90mm side wall). I dented the crap out of them but also happened with tire pressure at 32psi. After that lesson I ordered up some Volk GTS 19x8.5 245/40/19 (98mm side wall). Set the tire pressure at 40psi and never had a problem even after hitting a few pot holes.
I'm trying to get my Z right on the 1st attempt and have taken to mind the advise of Jetpilot with offsets and tires. My question is peace of mind..... 19's or 18's? Anyone have problems with dents and 35 series tires vs 40 series? One thing to take into account was the funky lips on the 5zigens which bowed outward almost encouraging a dent.
If I went 18's I'd probably stick with the 18x10 +27 & 18x11 +25 and run a 285/40/18 which is almost exactly the same diameter as a 285/35/19 you guys run (265 front). The lip of the 18x11 should line up with the lip of the 10.5 +18 setup factoring in the wheel width and offset. may even consider the 295 and just watch the drop carefully.
If I did 19's, probably would be safe in the front and run the 19x9.5 +30 & 19x10.5 +28 (265 and 285 respectably with a 35 series). Don't get me wrong I'd love to run the +18 and get the 125mm lip but I don't want crazy negative camber once I lower the car, who knows maybe I'll do the +17,18 setup....
Sorry for the long post... Spending a couple thousand figured what's a few paragraphs. Still bias towards 19" wheels on the Z but maybe i's because that's all I see the GTS wheels in, I also like the fat tire of the 40 series... This will be my last post on this topic, I know I've been asking a lot of fitment questions lately. Thanks for any help and advice.

I should have made this a pole.... can't deside between more wheel or rubber, 18 vs 19. I know so many are running the 19x9.5/10.5 +17/18 is anyone running the +30/+28 and took off some of the lip
