Default 5zigen wheels, what offset +20 or +37?

hi im going to buy a set of these http://www.5zigenusa.com/english/pro...er/ZR+520.html
but i dont fully understand offsets enough to make a large purchase with confidence!

im going the 19" route and obviously they will be staggered. i know ill be doing the 19x10 for the rear, but should i get the +37 offset? i was told over the phone the +20 would stick out, but i dont understand why the 37 would be any better, to me a larger number sounds like it will stick out farther.

also, up front i was told the 19x8 +37 would be good by the 5zigen phone answerer, but the chart doesnt have the circle showing that it will fit the z33 brembos. big brakes are next so the wheels have to clear brembos.

so any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated, i really dont want to buy spacers but if i have to i will. i have read up on offsets before something to do with the middle of the wheel and the distance out in front or something but as you all can see thats all i got! so thanks alot i trust z owners more than the guy on the phone! cheers

You can pick up the 19x10, +20 offset for the rear. That will actually look pretty good. The +37 offset will be sunken in your wheel well and will need some spacers to make it flush with your fender and look good.
As far as the fronts go, 19x8 +37 offset will be sunken in too. You will need about a 20mm spacer to make it close to being flush with your wheel well. I'm not exactly sure which offset you'll need to clear brembos in the fronts, but an offset in the teens will make your fronts fit close to flush with the wheel well.

Edit: the higher the offset, the more the wheel will be sunken into your wheel well...

so the smaller offset means it sticks out farther? so the 20 wont rub on the rear fender? so should i get the 19x9 or 8 in the front? if i get the 19x8 it can be 37, 42 and 50. thanks

I just got the following.

Here are the Specs
fr: 19x9.5 +26 offset
rr: 19x10.5 +22 offset

Tires are Toyo Proxes
fr 245-35-19
rr 275-35-19

They sit flush on the back. The front are tucked in a tad.
I put some pics up.
Here is a link to the tread:

Go with the +20 offset and save you the headache of having to run a huge spacer with the +37's you are considering. The +20 should put you flush in the rear with a 19x10, or pretty close to... You MIGHT have to run a spacer with the 19x8 fronts with a +20 offset (10-15mm is my guess)... Whoever you spoke to over at 5Zigen is giving you bum scoop with the higher offset being the better choice. It works the exact opposite... The higher the offset, the more the wheel is going to sink in. The lower the offset, the further the wheel is going to stick out. Good luck OP and post some pics when you are done.

EDIT: By reading your initial post a little closer, I noticed that you are wanting to run these wheels with Brembo's and possibly a BBK at a later time. Looking at the design of the wheel, you MIGHT be able to get away with running those wheels/specs with the Brembos, but depending on the BBK of choice you decide to go with, you might run into some issues... It is always best to decide what BBK you are going to get and purchase wheels according to the proper specs to accomodate that BBK before impulse buying and having to run a large spacer in the end/or purchase new wheels. Something to think about that might end up saving you more money and headaches in the end...

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

hey thanks for all the help, i was worried i would get bashed and told not to ask questions that i know get asked a lot! anyways, the brakes will either be the oem brembos or the new akebeko(spellcheck) brakes off the 370z. i know ill be getting them down the road so i deffinately dont want to take one step forward and two back! btw, will i have any rubbing issues?
if not, ill do the 19x10 20 offset in the back, and the 19x9 in the front in 20 offset as well? thanks again!
(see this is why i wanted to ask z owners who know what they are talking about, if i would have listened to the guys on the phone i would be regretting it.)

You would have been regretting it indeed. I think you will be fine with the brembo clearance with the wheel design you have chosen with the +20 offsets, other factors such as running a wide front/rear lip with a flat face designed wheel might cause you to have issues... But your not running a wide lip on neither front or back, so you should be fine. All you need is 2mm of clearance between the inside of the rim and your brake calipers. As far as the 370Z brakes, I don't know the specs so it would be impossible for me to say compared to the Z33 Brembos. Maybe someone else can chime in who knows the answer to that one... Or just continue to do your homework which is your best bet (believe me, the fitment process can be tricky... I am currently puting a 12 piston Rotora setup on my current Z, and it has been a headache with wheel fitment and my current offsets...) The fun is in the homework indeed!

I totally agree with you on the #'s you provided for his setup here Jon... I have heard alot of good things about vredestein, alot of people know nothing about them hence why you don't see them as often...

Go with the 19x9 +20 front and 19x10 +20 rear. That will look good without needing to roll your fenders or run overly stretched tires. If you want them to look more aggressive, roll your rear fenders and run 10-15mm spacers all around. If you go with the higher offsets, we will all laugh at you when you post pics, b/c it will look retarded.

yea I live right next to the US 129 the dragon, i go all the time, and the invo's were some of the best tires ive ever run up there. the ultracs are just as good, the are just a bit louder when your really pushing them but still hold I used to have falken 452s and i must say those were horrible up there, screaming all the time, and when they got hot they lost grip so word to the wise if your looking for grip do not buy falken 452s

Absolutely go with 19x9 +20 and 19x10 +20! Nothing else would fit even remotely well. Post pics when you get them!

thats awesome you said that about the falcons because the dumb nuts that told me about the offsets also tried to tell me about the falcons and how they were superior and quiet and it happened to randomly come up in this thread so you guys are saving my *** left and right!
