Default 19" tire size?

I know most people get 275/35-19 or 285/35-19 on a 9.5 or 10 inch wide rim but has anyone tried a 255/40-19 tire? It is only slightly larger and the taller sidewall should give greater protection.

sidewall heights:

285-35-19 = 3.93"
255-40-19 = 4.02"

Not much more protection there. May as well fill up the wheel well.

I'm getting 255/40 and 245/40 installed (at my local discount tire)on the G coupe as soon as brown drops off the wheels today.

here's the pic. The tires are about .75" taller than the stock 17s, so the car sits a little higher. If you go this route, you will probably want to lower with eibachs, thats probably what we are going to do.
