Hey guys, my name is David. I recently purchased a 2003 Ivory Pearl G35 Coupe. The car came with Axis wheels on it. The previous owner also gave me the stock Infiniti wheels. I really like the Axis wheels. However, the wheels are in extremely bad shape. The front two wheels have curb rash all around them as well as some sort of white discoloration on the lip. Also the Axis center caps have what seems to be water spots on them (this is present on all four wheels). I searched in the wheel section and found several great threads about repairing curb rash and I plan on doing that in the future. Nonetheless, does anyone know what that white discoloration on the lip may be? If anyone has any tips on cleaning up the white discoloration and foggy center caps as well as repairing these wheels, it would be greatly appreciated. Even though the wheels are in bad shape, I intend to keep them on the car as the defects can only be spotted close up. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.
Also, I'm not a big fan painting the wheels or having them powdercoated.
PICS ARE INCLUDED.

they probably arent worth taking to a shop to repair them. It looks like all 4 need some good fixing up. I would swap them out to be honest. Save up for new rims.
Maybe some1 on here will have an actual quote for how much it might cost to fix them. Call your local body shops and see what they say.
edit: Davidv is all the ball today...posted as I was typing this up

i agree with what has been said. looks like acid/road grime. whoever owned the car didn't wash the wheels well enough/often enough.
however, seeing as how they are in pretty rough shape best case scenario is sanding and powdercoating. This shouldn't cost more than $75 bucks a wheel, and they can paint them metallic silver or silver alloy color. This will give the wheels a shiny almost OEM look instead of a "tuner" look which i think you're trying to avoid.
As far as the center caps go, order 4 new ones off ebay, or from Axis for like 20 bucks and replace them. They should pop right out if you push them from the inside with the handle of a hammer or something similar.
Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

thanks for your help guys. i appreciate it. now that I know the rims really arent fixable I may get them powdercoated... One more thing, does anyone know exactly what style of Axis wheels these are?
Jesus those lips looked horrible. I have the Axis Hiro's and when I use to keep the car outside all year round I would get the little water spots but only on my center caps. I used a liqued aluminum polish and just buffed enough to remove it. Even though they are clearcoated it works to remove the mild spotting but not what's on your lips.
I paid 200.00 ea to get my BBS LM's refinished.. Powder coating is nice but the simplest option would be painting them. In the event you damage the wheel again.. its easier to get a painted wheel "touched-up" then repowder coating the wheel.
