Default what do you think of Autosock

Ive been looking into getting winter tires for the Z and stumbled upon Autosock, $100 for a pair and they only go on the drive wheels. For those of you that don't know what it is, basically its a slip cover that goes over your wheel that increases traction using textiles. Heres the website to tell you more www.autosock.no

Let me know what you think, but to me they seem like a decent alternative to snow tires.

Looks like it would work well on straight ice or snow, but for the most part in the winter, you will be driving on slush since many states will lay down salt before and during a storm.

I would think you'd be better off all around with a decent snow tire, which you can mount and forget about until the end of the season.

That makes sense, I was also thinking however that IF the Z does need to see snow, it's only going to be driven about 4 miles. its the girls Z and she works 45 min away, if theres snow, we'd switch cars and Id only need to drive it through town about 4 miles.

Interesting. Hope to hear someone who has used it. Never know when snow will strike in Colorado (ie 70+ today, snow tonight). No desire to get dedicated snows but this could be a good inexpensive backup if you get caught...

We sell those as well AutoSock They are designed as a temporary solution to getting a car through ice/snow conditions. Works great for that person who lives where you may only get one/two snows a year but doesn't own dedicated snow tires. Can be easily fitted over the tire and is self centering. Can't drive over 30mph with them installed and should be taken off once the road is clear. Pretty cool product actually.
