Default ce28n GENESIS finishing process...

I understand Rays use a different finishing process on these wheels than their usual process... this different, cheaper process, leads to a cheaper retail value for these limited edition wheels.

Does anyone have any info on this process? Why is it cheaper? Is it not as long lasting and "strong" as the usual finishing process? Will these wheels be more vulnerable to weather conditions (rain) and dirt than wheels finished in the usual process??

Im hoping the Rays/Volk gurus will chime in... thanks in advance.

uhhh, no, im not asking anyone to divulge any secrets or specifics about the process, and i realize that MOST people on here will not know anything about the process... but someone might know something, and at this point ANY info would be nice.... even some comments from people that own these wheels and the way they maintain them would be good.

ive seen threads in the past where members such as Andy@Performance, Sharif@Forged, Brian (from Mackin), etc. would come into a thread and post some useful info (not necessarily insider info) that you cant always find. Heres an example of one such thread, where some good info from Andy led to an interesting discussion about Advan wheels: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...-advan-rs.html

anyways... im not looking for any specifics on the science and technology it takes to finish these... just hoping someone has SOME info on this process and how different it is (in laymans terms) from the usual finishing process that Rays use.

im on my 4th set of volks and I've owned the wheels gino is talking about. I didn't see anything that made me think it was cheaply made. FYI they are still expensive

^yeah, cheap is maybe the wrong word to use... im not suggesting they are "cheaply made", its just that in my research ive read that the finishing process is different and not as expensive for Rays, and therefore they can lower the price a bit for these wheels... but yes, they are still expensive, just not AS expensive as the other CE28 wheels wiht diffirent finishes.....

how'd you like the color/finish dan?

Yeah thats something new. A company cut cost on a well known product to either increase profit or adapt to changes in the market.
