Tire Size Issues
So I was on the highway doing about 60 when I apparently hit some debris on my left-rear that I didn't see, my pressure dropped, the wheel rode on the sidewall and the tire disintegrated. I have an enthusiast so I didn't notice the dropping pressure until the tire came apart. I fish-tailed a bit but the car stayed well composed. That's the background.
Bottom line is I live in a hick-town now and no-one had the size tires I needed in stock. So, Discount Tire put a Bridgetone Comp T/A on. It's a different size (not sure of size) than the stock but it holds pressure and seems to be fine.
So, my other tires all have 10k on them so I don't want to buy one new tire, but do I really have to buy 2 for the rear axle or can I wait for the tires to wear more and replace them all later?
Why is it bad to have two diff. sizes on the same axle? Does it have to do with the tranny or the LSD?
Thanks for educating me.
