Default Tire load index

Which index is best? I have a 2005 Touring (MT). My car's curb weight should be about 3268 lbs. Why, on my b-pillar, does is recommend 91y in front and 96y in rear? This makes no sense to me. Should I actually keep with these ratings on aftermarket tires???

Welcome. Load rating specified on the placard is the way to go. Sometimes choosing tires you cannot find an exact match. Go UP not DOWN.

Load rating varies across sizes. Your front tires are different size than your rears.

The two different sizes have different load ranges. Rears carry more weight/air as they are larger than the fronts. There are no extra load requirements set for that vehicle. Good link on load indexes here How to Read Speed Rating, Load Index & Service Descriptions
