Default Alternate tire sizes for 17's?

I'm planning to upgrade to 18 or 19 in a few months, but still want to keep the 17's for back up. Was kind of wondering what are the alternate tire size that I could put on the stock 17's? I was thinking about getting some 225/45/17 and 235/45/17, since I see that size being offer more on the market. Would that size affect the TCS? and would the 245/45/17 fit on the stock rear 17's as well?

I will soon be going 275/40/17 Nitto 555R (drag radials) on the rear stock 17s. While the tire will fit, it will be a bit smaller in the sidewall area than that of the stock tire. It really wont be enough to notice though, and eveyrthing including TCS etc should work fine.

To check how tires compare to stock I always use http://www.1010tires.com/ 's tire calculator.

I'm running Kumho 245/45r17s in front and 255/45r17s in back on the stock 17s. I have been very happy with the results.

Wow, I can't believe it would actually fit a 255 in the rear on the stock 17's , cool I might have to take that in consideration :-)

By the way, does that leviate the Feathering problem at all? I spoke to someone at the Discount today, and he did indicate that due to the block tread on the stock tire, would cause tire feather a lot more than the V tread pattern tires.

Maybe something just didn't sink in. You can put up to a 275 on a stock 17. a x8 rim is wide enough, many run 275's on a x8 rim
