Is it possible to powercoat stock chrome wheels?
I have a set of 18'' 5 spoke chrome wheels that came with the car. Really don't like chrome was wondering is it possible to powercoat silver or gunmetal?
I already posted them for sale but was thinking of keeping them if i can paint them. So you saying if I powercoat the wheels paint won't stay on? BTW they are my winter wheels so don't care too much.

when I said safe, I didn't mean the paint staying on, I meant the wheels bending easier. the stock chrome wheels are rare and a lot of them have bent or broke on impact. heating them up via powdercoating will only further make this a possibility.
get a different set if you can.

put some baby powder on them and stick them in the oven at 450 for approximately 30-45 minutes. Be sure to check occasionally as when they turn brown they will be done powder coating.
chrome is a metal and has to be removed before anything, painting, coating etc.. youl spend hundred upon hundreds doing this if it were done right and have a marginal end product.. run away from this idea quickly. save yourself the endless hassle. or wrap em in 182 series 3m vinyl. much easier and less lame..but not by much.
