Sidewall tire too tall?
i have a track day tomorrow and i come to find out i have a crack going straight through a spoke of one of my stockers that hold my autoX rubber. (245/255 star specs)
Now my first plan was to unfortunately stretch those over the spare 9.5 wheels i have but... yeah.
But i came across an amazing deal on some newish just broke in NT555 off an e-class for dirty cheap. But the size has got me worried. They are 285/40/18 and 245/45/18. Now i am almost positive they will fit, (Fenders rolled, going on +35 offset wheels), my concern is how they will perform. Is this too high of a sidewall. This is probably going to be just for this one track day and a couple AutoX. Im used to driving on rubberbands.

OP, they will probably be fine but I'm sure you'll feel a little more tire flex. Those sidewalls on the 285's are close to stock 245/45/18 sidewalls. I autocrossed on stock 17's with 235/50/17's (more sidewall) and they were fine. But then again those were OEM bridgestones and they do have firmer sidewalls than other brands.

I agree that 255 on a 9.5 won't be too much, though I wouldn't do it solely because I want as much as I can fit on mine
