Default TPMS Problem?

I just got my TPMS sensors back from a tire shop that removed them from a set of wheels and the little pins that are inside the valve stem part are missing. So it's just like a hollow tube going into the electronic box part. I hope that makes sense.

What gives? Can I fix this somehow? I have heard of TPMS rebuild kits but I'm not sure if that's what I need or what.. I can't find much info on the subject.

Thanks,
John

Ok I'm not sure but I think I've answered my own question. It looks like a lot of the rebuild kits come with a new schrader valve. I'm not sure how that works... but hopefully it will fix my issue.

The schrader valve just screwes in, some valve caps are even made with the tool to do it on them.

When you put the tpms's on your new wheels or whoever does, and when they get the tire mounted and beaded, the final step is to insert that screw in for the air to stay in the tire... these are abundant at any tire shop and usually included in the price it costs to mount a tire. TPMS or not... this is how valve stems work.

edit: i'm not 100% sure which pin your talking about.

You talking about one of these?

There's nothing special about them, you can pick one up just about anywhere tires or auto supplies are found.

You just need the inner valve. Most tire shops take them out to let the air out of the tires and then put them back in when they finish. Are you installing them or is a tire shop going to be putting them on, if so then they will put the valves in for you.

Ok guys. Thanks for the info. Yeah I have always watched tire guys do their thing and I've seen them unscrew something to let the air out.. but I never knew what they were doing exactly. So I guess this shop was just ghetto and didn't bother putting them back in? lol.. sigh..

Well, since this will now be my 3rd time to uninstall then re-install these TPMS I think I might go ahead and get the rebuild kits with new rubber grommets so that they don't leak any air.

Man, it's been a while since I explained the difference between direct and indirect systems. I'd have to link from somewhere else.
