Question Tire width variations between brands

Does anyone know if tire widths vary between brands? My front wheels are 19 X 9.0 with a 255/35 tire(Bridgestone Potenza RE960). The lip pokes out like its stretched. I had the understanding that a 245-265 tire was the ideal range for this rim size. I could provide pics if needed. Any feedback on this would be great. Thanks

Yes tire widths vary between brands and between models and some times by A LOT.

Here is something I posted on this topic awhile back in regards to this very topic...
