Tire size question for stock 17s
I'm helping my gf find tires for the stock 17s on her touring model. Unfortunatly that damn 50 sidewall narrows the selection down a lot.
Her main concern is she wants a tire that will last a long time.
All the good tires i could think of didn't come in the stock 17 sizes, so the best one i could find where the Falken Ziex ZE-512 (seem to be a good balance of performance, treadwear, and price), but since these don't come in the stock 235/50/17 for the rear i came up with a couple options and wanted to run them by you Z experts.
1) use 225/50/17 in front and back (which according the the tire calc i'm using thats a 1.53% diff in diameter).
2) use 225/50/17 in front and 255/45/17 (which is a 0.84% diff in diameter) in the back.
She says she would prefer to stay wider in the back and since the back is 17x8 i figure a 255 would be fine. The only down side i can think of would be increased oversteer.
What do you guys think? Will the 255 fit in the rear without rubbing?
