Default got my iForged EVo's ... it wasnt a good day

Well i finally received my super sweet 19" Evo Wheels. I got them around 3 weeks after i placed the order.I have to say iForged did the right thing with these wheels.

WEll to the bad stuff. For started my grandmother died sunday morning, so its been an overall sad time.

I was excited my rims got here and i went to get them mounted. I ask the shop if the could mount these rims and he swore up and down it would be perfect.

The tried to mount a rear rim first and had ALOT of trouble with the tire it seem to be getting stuck. After a while they got it to seat somewhat and tried to air it into place.... WEllll my nice brand new Goodyear EXPLODED at the bead.

At this point i was cursing and mighty pissed they just blow open a $260 tire. He swore to me that the tire would be covered by Goodyear as a defect.
So whatever i told him to dismount the tire. Afterwards I looked at the rim and noticed that the machine scracthed the whole outter band of the rim.
I blew up and eventully he agreed to pay me 1/2 the cost of the wheel. $500
he gave me $300 on the spot and promised the rest this friday.

I called tirerack and was told that the tire was not covered since it was a mounting flaw. Well lucky for me tire rack offered me the tire 1/2 price.

And as for the wheels, i used some Eagle 1 cleaner and the rims looks great again. You can see small scufs in the outter rims but its not noticable...
My new tire will be here soon from tire rack the maybe i can get them mounted at a real shop .

Pics will be here soon once there mounted.

take it to a shop that has experience mounting tires on larger wheels. al ot of shops don't even have the right equipment to do so, so they end up scratching wheels and improperly mounting tires.

Drop me your Zip and Ill see if I have a certified installer in your area. 30 and 35 series tires are VERY hard to get on if not properly trained, or if your equipment isnt up for it. Tons of lube needed. Most likely the bead was slightly ripped while going over the wheel hoop. Be glad that it broke there...instead of on the road. Also, some shops have no clue what "reverse barrel" wheels are. I am not familiar with iForged wheels, but if it was reverse barrel...and he tried to mount it with the face pointing up...thats why it happened. Anyway, theres a more experienced shop out there.

Yes they are reverse barrel wheels Todd, and your shop here in Atlanta (Discover Mills), knows how to mount them without scratching up the wheel!

Just wondering...did your iforge wheels have lines in the inside area between the outer and inner lip? From the manufacturing process?

A friend's iforge had the lines and had a hard time mounting.

Oh...I'm in pretty far down south from South Bend... I live in Bloomington..About 4 hours to get there.
Well, in spring, if I have some business to go up there, I'll make sure I do.

Hi guys ,Iam a newbie here and came across this thread, Iam currently sponsor by Iforge , I had the worst experience with them , first of it took them almost 6 months to get the wheels completed and ship out to me and then the wheels were made so poorly, the rim shop had the hardest time mounting them on and couldn't avoid putting a slight bend on the very end of the inner lip. on all four wheels. lucky the shop fix them for free but it was a nightmare.

BTW I don't have a Z but planning to get one soon.......
