Default Tire profile

So i desperately need new tires for my z.. i currently have 245/35/19's in the front and 275/35/19 in the rear. i went to discount tire and the cheapest set with tax and installed was like 960 dollars! thats a lot for tires!! so i know a guy whose dad owns a tire shop and he said for 550 dollars he can get me all four installed.. but the fronts are 245/40/19 and the back are 275/35/19. would that setup look dumb? bigger profile in the back.. or i can get all 4 the same size i have on now for 750. any input?

I would pay the extra and get all the same profile. A 40 profile with a 35 on the back would make the car look a bit taller up front. Also this could mess with your VDC and ABS. You need the right stagger in tire height from the front to the rears if you want the ABS to work properly.

BTW- You're driving a sports car. Get used to expensive tires and fast tread wear, My KDW's were over $1600.00 for all four.

Also, going cheap on tires, not a good idea. It's better to spend the extra dollars now and be safe than buy a crap set and end up in a wall on the highway. You can find good deals on line for tires. Search this forum.

even though im sittin on ksport coils so i could adjust to the change in height.. but going from a 35 to 40 is like less than half of an inch correct? how noticable could that be? and also its a base which from what i understand dont throw lights like traction and vdc and stuff... sorry if i sound dumb, i am still a noob and a fresh owner to the car

Front tire is taller than rear.

The ABS/VDC/EBD computer in the Z expects the rear tires to have a larger diameter than the fronts. If the fronts are larger than the rears, then you'll have problems.

I have and theyre considerably cheaper than that.

edit - they have em on special now, explains the discrepancy...

+1 to what PDXracer said. Try to get tires that are about the same overall diameter as stock.

Like PDX_Racer said. For a technical explanation see: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...read-here.html

My bad. The Base has neither VDC or TCS. For tire size you can do just about any combination that you wish.

Tires cost money. Its something you just don't want to screw around with.Paying $500
for a set on a Z installed is stupid. Its the old, you get what you paid for.I see the brothers inthis area blowing a grand a piece on 24" rims and putting on cheap tires.
Save up your money or,work with a company like Discount Tire that has a very easy
credit system that allows you to pay off your amount due in a specified time with no interest.
Get yourself a set of Hankook V12's...
