Default PLEASE REPLY, about to buy new tires....

I want to make SURE these will fit...

Will 265/45/R18's fit on all four stock 18 inch rims, and clear the front turning area as well?

Thanks!

Fuggin' n00bs.

No, they won't fit! They're too tall.

How about 255/45/R18's?

I WANT 45's up front, I hate the stagerd height.......is it possible? Or must I go 40's in the back too?

Do the math, they are still too tall. If you want to go wider you'll have to go with a lower series, ie 40 or so, tire.

255*0.45/25.4*2+18 = 27.035"

225*0.45/25.4*2+18 = 25.972"

You need to come close to matching the 25.972":

255/40 R18

255*0.40/25.4*2+18 = 26.031"

Now you've got to be concerned about a 255 tire on a 225 rim....

I see.........arg, I might just go 245 all the way around : (

Although, if 255/40/R18's will work, I think I might do that, any negative aspects to this? other than goodyear says you need an 8.5 inch rim to do it? I mean, Will it work? is it a bad idea?

Damnit.........I REALLY wanted 255/45/R18's........are you sure their too tall? : (

Front:

245/40-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 98.0
--diameter (mm) = 653.2
--circumf. (mm) = 2052.1
225/45-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 101.3
--diameter (mm) = 659.7
--circumf. (mm) = 2072.5
1.00% difference in circumference.

Rear:

245/40-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 98.0
--diameter (mm) = 653.2
--circumf. (mm) = 2052.1
245/45-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 110.3
--diameter (mm) = 677.7
--circumf. (mm) = 2129.1
3.75% difference in circumference.

Although you didn't realize it, the stocks are "staggered" (as you put it).

You're actually going to end up with taller tire in the front than stock by 1% and a smaller tire in the rear than stock by 3.75%.

Which will also put 3.75% more miles on your car than you're actually driving and show that you are going 3.75% faster than you actually are.

Am I also incorrect in thinking that the incorrect stagger may also adversely affect the TCS or VDC if so equipped???
I thought I remembered hearing this when I purchased snow tires that were......

Hmmmm.... Let me see........

The exact same size as the originals so as not to totally FUG up my Z!!

Are you sure? The mileage is calculated from the rear?

I have driven 1000 miles on my new tires in which I changed the front 1% smaller and the rear 3% smaller and my mileage is precisely 1% off from before. I used both the mileage markers on the highway and someone followed me for 100 of those miles, so the numbers are correct. What I am missing here?

From what I was told, it's calculated from the rear only. I personally do not know for sure. Maybe Jeff or Jason from Performance could enlighten us some?

Well guys, sorry for all the ignorance before, But I was in a hurry, and needed info....

I now have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 245/40/R18's all the way around, and man do I LOVE IT

I don't know what the hell nissan was thinking by putting 225's up front stock..

this car LOVES having 245's up front, it handles like a dream now, changing lanes is a flick of the wrist away...It felt sorta funny at first, but doesn't take long to get used to...

the overall feel of the car is much more balanced now.......and the tires look badass....

thanks for all your help, and once again, sorry if I annoyed some of you, but I had to educate myself on tire size and what it all ment this morning, so thanks for bearing with me....

I cannot stress enough how much more positive the steering feels....

it's amazing how hard it is to figure out / find tire sizes, when the 3rd post in this forum is a link to a tire size calculator.
