Crazy, I find it hard to believe Nissan could put such weak wheels on their beloved sports car that was made to be driven

The Rays Wheels on the GT-R are the same casting. Maybe a bit more engineering but both are cast.

there was that NTSB investigation into the Chroming of OE wheels leading to spoke crack/wheel separation a few years back... i think a bunch of us got that notification.
at least it was at an autocross event, and not on the freeway....

I hope you're right because now I'm scared of my 08 Base wheels breaking during events.

If they've hit curves, then they're no longer as strong as they used to be?

curb wheels usually means scraping the wheel on a curb going less than .5mph usually resulting from parking

Wait - arent those the optional track wheels that are supposed to be forged?
I thought if they were 18 inch and had the 3 z squares in each spoke they were forged as compared to the other wheels in 03-05?

No......those were the 17" wheels that came on the 2003-2005 Base, Enthusiast and automatic equipped Touring models.

Never seen an OE 17 break completely, but I have seen more than a few with one or two visibly cracked spokes
