Default XL tires up front. Standard tires for rear.

Im in the process of buying new tires. I already bought a pair of Michelin Pilot Super Sport 285/35/19 for the rear. Looking at 255/35/19 MSS for the fronts. I came across a great deal on a pair of 255/35/19 that are XL rated. Would the car drive weird having extra load tires in the front with standard tires in the rear?

Is it in fact similar to having run flats? I know they should supposedly give you better handing since the sidewalls are stiffer. Do XL tires weight quite a bit more though?

Sidewalls being stiffer would increase weight, but it's not on your drive wheels, so if you are getting a good deal on them go for it. I bought the cheapest tires I could find for my Z (rears) and they perform great

It's fairly common on staggered fitments for one tire to be XL and the other not. Construction depends a lot on the size. Won't be an issue and doubt you'll notice anything, especially if you're using the same brand/model tire front/rear.
