Default Tire recommendation for '05 stock 17" enthusiast

Hey there,

So I have a 2005 Enthusiast with the stock 17" wheels and am in the market for a new set of tires. The ones I have on now are 225/50/17 and 245/50/17 Falkens. I use this as my daily driver and do not do any track or race. I was hoping the Falkens would last a bit longer but the front ones seem to have worn out on along the edges. Not sure why this happened because I have been taking them every so often to Firestone and getting the allignments done as part of my lifetime alignment package (definitely worth every penny).

I am hoping you can recommend me what to get next as I am getting way more confused going through these forums and looking at the various recommendations for Continental Extreme Contact DWS, Sumitomo HTR Z III, etc. Looks like most of these are for 18"

These are what I am looking for in my next set:
  • Summer tires that perform well in Atlanta rains (should I get summer or all seasons?)
  • Good tread life so that I am not changing sets every couple of years
  • Good grip for daily driving and smooth cornering and turns
  • Excellent value for money
  • Helps me increase the life of the tires through reversing them during rotation
  • As quiet as it gets (not a deal breaker considering the Falkens I have on now)

Also, is there any advantage with sticking to the OEM 235/50/17 for the rear instead of the 245/50/17?

Best tire reviews are the testing Tire Rack does, I would spend some time looking there. Seems like you are wanting a magical tire, great wear, great in water, great traction and cheap. I know my suggestions , but you will only get 25k out of them, and for me it would be my magical street tire.

Rear sizes, just a hair more potential traction. When searching for tires, look for your 225/40-17 front and matching rear in both sizes. If the wider rear is available, go for it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really curious to know which one has the 25k mileage tires that you recommend?

At this point I think I'm leaning more towards the Michelin A/S 3 set.
