Will body paint last in rims?
So I've been thinking about color matching my rims to the metallic black paint on my car. I would have this professionally done.
I've painted rims myself with spray can wheel paint and it held up satisfactory, my question is will body paint hold up or is there something special about wheel paint?

Forget the trouble, just get these...
But ya, sure, you can paint your wheels with body paint but advise you clear them as brake dust will eat up paint alone.
Why not powder them? Way more durable and not much more $$ than paint to do 'em up.

To paint. Take car to paint guy down the road where tire shop is next door. Pick up car a couple of days later. Paint guy has black paint left over from painting my car.
Haven't ruled out powder coating, but you can see why painting them is appealing.

Would have to take the wheels off on a gravel driveway, leave the car on blocks. Run the wheels to a shop to get the tires off. Take the rims 100 miles away to get powder coated, probably have to take off work as most places close before I could get there after work. Take off work again to go pick them up. Take rims and tires back to shop. Bring rims and tires home and put them back on car.

They're plasti-dipped. The only reason they have a little gloss in the pic is because tire shine had just been put in the wheels, normally they are a flat black which just doesn't look right now with the glossy black top and exhaust.
