Default Opinions on Tire Sizes

I am about to purchase a set of Volk GT-7 19" wheels in gunmetal, 19x8.5"(+23 Offset) for the front & 19x9.5"(+24 Offset) for the rear.

I don't know much about tires for rear wheel drive cars - does anyone have any opinions on brands, or sizes? I seriously have no clue where to start.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Do a search, there are many threads on tire sizes. I believe the correct tire size for 19" wheels are 245/35/19 and 275/45/19. Check out www.tires.com or www.tirerack.com - Good Luck!

probably a typo by bertg but it is 245/35/19 275/35/19

toyo T1S
bridgestone eagle F1 D1S
goodyear S03
dunlop 9000
Nitto 555

those are the type I see most used around here. dont think you can go wrong with any of them, all have their pros/cons.

You can also check www.xrims.com and click on the ultra high performance tires comparison. They have fourteen brands that they compare.

Here's what I went with... And it hasn't been called in yet, so I can still change it if these are cooky-sounding sizes...

Front - Nitto NT555 Extreme 275/30/19
Rear - Nitto NT555 Extreme 235/35/19

Sound like an okay setup?

You'll kill the stagger with those sizes. Stay with the recommendations listed above. 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. These are the correct sizes for the wheels your ordering, and for the car.

Your sizes look to be "reversed" between front and rear. In any event, even if you switch it around, you are off on aspect ratio for the rears. Go with Lou's recommendation to stay consonant with the "plus one" sizing. 245/35 front and 275/35 rear.
Good luck.

I'm running the Nitto 555's on my ride and like them alot. You'll notice a huge difference over those POS stock tires.
Last weekend I put my stock wheels and tires back on the car as I was going to burn them up at the track. I was getting on the expressway, hit third gear hard and sent the car almost completely sideways. Needless to say they came right back off the car.
Like I said, you'll notice a huge difference in handling over the stock tires.
