Default OEM 18" rims - Max tire size?

I have looked, but have not found suggestions on what is the maximum tire size that can perform well on the stock Z 18 rims found on my 2003 Perf Z. Any suggestions 255?, 265?, 275? xxx?

245/40/18s in front and 255/45/18s in back. There has been quite a lot of discussion on this subject. For the stock wheels, these sizes reduce the understeer, handle better than stock sizes, and maintains the stagger so all is right VDC and the Slip control.

you could conceivably bump the back up to 265, and most likely 275 or even 285 would "fit". of course itll handle like crap and look stupid.(being that the front and rear are the same width rim, same goes for up front)

lowrider gave the right answer. Im just bored.
