Default trying to choose the right size tires

Hey all,

i'm trying to figure out what size tires I should get. I am going to order some wheels 19" wheels and needed to know if the standard 245 and 275 combo will work. I wanted to get 19x9.5 in front and 19x10.5 in the rear with a 23 offset front and rear. I will be driving on the streets and have a feeling that with those tires I'd bend a wheel in no time. I was thinking of getting 265/35/19 for the fronts and 295/30/19 for the rear. I do plan on trimming the rear fenders if need be, and What do ya'll think? Has anyone tried this yet? Thanks ahead of time for your imput...

Jerry

You will want to make sure that you remain with 3% of stock specs. or your TSC and VDC(if equipped) will not be happy. I am running a similar tire setup on 18's.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Enter your stock size wheels/tires & then the sizes you are considering....results will show diff. from stock & speedo error

Hope this helps...

so if i understand you right. if i put in the stock and the new specs and it says that i am 2% different with the speed, I am going to be okay. I am not trying anything major, just trying to adjust the way my car looks. going from 17 stocks to 18's. new sizes front:225/40-18; rear:245/40-18.

also would anyone know if having front and rear rims all being 18x8. I have seen a lot of people using a wider rim in the rear such as in my case maybe a 18x8.5. do i have to do that or will these rims work? cause i am pretty sure that the rims i am looking at do not have that half size. any help is greatly appreciated.

The closer you get to (zero) difference the better. Check and see if the manufacturer of the wheels you want makes an 18x9 for your rears, or it is possible that the tires will mount to an 18x8.
Discount Tire Direct seems to be a good source for this type information. Good luck...
