Question Problems with wider tires than rim?

I've seen lots of people running 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 on the rear with the stock touring 17" rims. The recomended wheel size for those size tires is more than the rims that they are on, but the people that use it say they don't have problems. Is there any safety or any other concerns that I should be worried about before using those?

245's on the front rims are fine, it's what I use on all four corners on the stock 17" wheels. The 275's in the rear? That may be a bit much, but I've heard of people even using that size on all four corners. I don't think it would be too big of a problem, but just keep a close eye on them....

You use the same tires on all four? Do you have a problem with them not being staggered (ie - problems with vdc/tcs)?

I have a base model with no VDC or TCS...I got the car this way on purpose and added the nismo differential and some other stuff, don't need a computer hindering my driving!

You'll have to find out from somebody with VDC how this effects it, it may act weird, I don't know.....TCS I would think wouldn't make a difference?
