Default Taking off GT caps off of Volks

is there a proper way to do it?

I need my tires balanced and the last time my mech tried to take a cap off he had a really difficult time since its in there pretty tight.

What I have done in the past is take something like a broom handle and wrap it with lots of shop towels and just punch it out.

What do you guys do?

You can take them off while its still on the car! My friend found a way to take them off without taking off the wheel. I think he said something like to apply both your thumbs on the top of the cap while using your index finger on the bottom, distance from thumbs are about 3/4" and distance the index fingers are apart are about the same. Wiggle it up and down while putting more pressure on the bottom while wiggling it. Try it out.
