Default Location of TPS units

I removed my TPS units to have my wheels powdercoated and forgot to mote which sensor came from which wheel. How can I figure out which sensor goes where?

Well, pump up your wheels to different pressures and then check in the car. You should be able to correlate which wheel has which sensor (since the position on the trip computer will always be the same). Then you can remove the sensors and put them in the correct wheels. Of course, maybe you can do something simpler like drive around for a while with only one sensor in the car and see which readout it goes to. Or take it to the dealer and have the remapped (although my dealer messed it all up and now my F is the left side sensors and the R is the right (or maybe it is reversed, but it's definitely not front-rear like it should be).

I think that the dealer remapping is a better option than mount and dismount of tires. If the dealer can do this, then it will work out best. Do you know the exact procedure for doing this?

IIRC, Michael-Dallas posted a page from the service manual detailing the instructions to the dealer for doing this using the Consult II and the TPS activation device (actually a 'ring') at each wheel. It was a couple of years back on this forum, so you might want to try a search. HTH

Red face

Interesting: My TPS units were installed wrong from the factory. Left front is really right-rear, etc. I tested to discover this. Too lazy to change them since I got it memorized now.

Found it!

Quote:
To set the sensors they need to do the following:

ID REGISTRATION WITH TRANSMITTER ACTIVATION TOOL
1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
2. Connect CONSULT-II and CONSULT-II CONVERTER to data link connector.
NOTE:
If "AIR PRESSURE MONITOR" is not indicated, go to GI-40, "CONSULT-II Data Link Connector (DLC) Circuit" .
3. Touch “AIR PRESSURE MONITOR”, “WORK SUPPORT” and “ID REGIST”.
4. With the transmitter activation tool (J-45295) pushed against the front-left transmitter, press the button then keep 5 seconds.
5. Register the IDs in order from FR LH, FR RH, RR RH or RR LH. When ID registration of each wheel has been completed, a buzzer sounds and hazard warning lamp blinks.

ID REGISTRATION WITHOUT TRANSMITTER ACTIVATION TOOL
4. Adjust the tire pressure to the values shown in the table below for ID registration, and drive the vehicle at 15 km/h (9.4 MPH) or more for a few minutes.

Tire position Tire pressure kPa (kg/cm2 , psi)
Front – Left 250 (2.5, 36)
Front – Right 230 (2.3, 33)
Rear – Right 210 (2.1, 30)

So, if I read this correctly, I can blindly mount the sensors and tires, then perform the second test. That is the test with specific pressures to register each wheel?
