SSR's are fantastic wheels. I've had my Decolte Evolutions since 2001 - zero problems.

I'd say SSR quality is as good as Volk/Rays wheels. They are one of the leading wheel manufactures in Japan.
I guess the SSR bending you heard is from their Comp. Wheels?
THey are so light and butter soft and i don't think it's a good idea to run those wheels in some states which have ****ty roads.
just my .02 cent.

and you can even purchase a radio controlled model of the same car

and here is a nice press release about the series and the 350z entries

All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC):
As expressed in the name of the series, cars competing in the JGTC are of the Grand Touring type. Categorized as semi-endurance races, two drivers take turns behind the wheel. The lengths of the circuits at which the races are held range from approximately 3 to 6 km and race distances range from 250 to 500km. The JGTC is the largest racing series in Japan (in terms of participants and spectators).

Part of the JGTC appeal is the variety of car models participating in the series. Out of the approximately 40 entries, there are currently 17 different models competing, including the Nissan Fairlady Z (350Z).

In 2003, Nissan completed a sweep, winning the championship for both classes. The Xanavi NISMO GT-R car won the GT500 championship, while the Hasemi Sports/Endless Z33 car won the GT300 championship.
For 2004, Nissan has two vehicles entered in the series as NISMO works teams, both managed by Hiroshi Degawa. Car number 1, Xanavi NISMO Z, is driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Richard Lyons. The second NISMO car, the number 22 MOTUL PITWORK Z, is driven by Masami Kageyama and Michael Krumm. NISMO also provides technological support to Hasemi Motor Sport and Team IMPUL, making a total of four Nissan-affiliated cars competing in the GT500 class. There are two Z cars in GT300 as well, powered by NISMO.

I've wanted a set of SSR Professors for my Z for a while. I'm glad tire rack has them at such a great price! I'll be ordering a set as soon as spring rolls around and I can drive the Z again. I just don't know what color would look good on my Lemans Z. I don't like silver and the only other color is black.

See this link for black SF Challenges on my Lemans Z. This will give you an idea of how black rims look on our color car.

Thanks for the info on SSR. It was only one person who said something bad about them. All other comments have been positive so I just wanted to re-affirm that.

I heard that SSR Professor SP1's are cast rims, not forged. Is this correct? If it's cast and 2 piece (AFAIK), it won't be as strong as 1-piece forged. Of course there are so many variables in this issue but in general..
I had a very strong temptation for thest wheels when I got sick of waiting for my LE37T's, and I just decided to wait more and get what I originally wanted. I'm 110% satisfied with my wheels right now but thoese SSR SP1's are one of my favorites. (If you see D1 Drift racing cars, you will see a lot of SP1's. )

So, Luke, do you have any info of how much the SP1 weights , let say 18X9.5 w/o tire?
