I too have an 06 Z, and mine does consume oil faster than non-Rev up models do (about 1 quart every 1200 miles or so). This should not deter you from purchasing the 06, especially at that price.
+1 for checking out underneath the Z as well. It also looks like the front bumper cover has seen a few parking curbs too (where the bumper meets the fender seems to be misaligned by the photos taken). Might want to take another look before making any final decisions. My screen at work has horrible resolution, but it looks like the dent on the roof didn't cause any paint damage, so it should be an easy pull for a dent repair specialist

A Z is a sports car, they are expensive to maintain and repair, if you are on a budget and need a reliable daily driver there are many cars less expensive that will do the job, tires alone are going to cost you, so whether its a good idea is up to you, its not an economy car or a practical car but it is a fun car to drive, if you can afford to deal with the expense and gas and insurance etc.. then go for it, why not have a fun car to drive?
But its not the best budget economy car to get from a to b with by any means.
That being said buy the newest model year you can afford, and keep good fluids in it, keep a good eye on it and start off with a good tune up and once over from a trusted mechanic unless you do your own wrenching, then go through it as much as you can to be sure your starting off on the right track.

As for insurance, It would be a good idea to check into that, and cost varies a lot, in my case largely based on where we live in FL. Clean record for ~20 years, 56 years old, college-educated, professional, homeowner, married and noo kids. Adequate coverage, based on what stuff we have and need to protect, is ~$140/month for me, and about the same for my wife's Acura TL-S. The Z is definitely a high-risk car from an insurance company's point of view.

I have to disagree somewhat about expensive maintenance and repair, at least on a Z that's always been maintained by the book. My '08 has 55K, and basically all I've spent money on is the standard consumables; brake pads, fluids and filters, belts, etc. Tires have a range of costs, depending on which you buy and how you drive. In the last 35K miles I've spent ~$1200 on tires (higher-end type, and I do drive the car hard sometimes). Fuel costs, too, can vary, depending on where and how you drive. I average 17mpg, but that's almost all commuting to work (off hours, so little traffic) mostly on surface roads. The Z is my DD, and I have 3 other cars which are much less practical, reliable, and safe (older Alfa Romeo's), and the Z has been nothing but practical for me.
As for insurance, It would be a good idea to check into that, and cost varies a lot, in my case largely based on where we live in FL. Well I was saying compared to many cars out there that are going to be less expensive to gas up, insure, buy reg tires for etc..
The Z is one of many vehicles I have and I love it but it isnt the best gas mileage, tires are way more expensive then on other cars I drive like an eclipse or even my tiburon, or my chevy pick up.
Anyway for a student or young driver looking for reliable cheap transportation it isnt the best choice, but it is very fun and I Said if he/she can afford it then go for it, but that doesnt mean it isnt true that tires being directional and different sizes for example are going to cost more than he might be prepared to pay, etc..
Just need to be ready to spend money when it needs it, as compared to an economy car.

I wasn't being critical or argumentative abut your post, just sharing personal experience over the years I've had my Z. Not the cheapest, nor the most practical car, but I would guess most buyers aren't necessarily looking for that. When I bought mine, I set a price limit of $30K to buy the best sports-performance car available, and the Z was the clear choice. I wasn't even going to consider Mustang/Camaro/Corvette/Challenger, etc., but BMW was in the mix, Porsche (used), too, and a few others, but in terms of reliability, maintenance, cost of ownership, it was all in favor of the Z. Having said that, there's always a risk in buying a used car, especially a sports-performance model, and ownership takes a commitment to maintenance, and to avoid ruining the car with stupid mods. I've been very pleased with everything about my '08, and surprised at how well its resale value has held up - not that it's likely ever going to be for sale.

Judging from the photo's it looks like its been well looked after. Not all of the '06 MT's suffered from excessive oil consumption and a lot of them had their engines replaced under warranty. If there is anyone near you from this forum who'd be prepared to take a little time out and come with you to check it out then at least it would give you peace of mind.
