Default 03DE/08HR Swap

So I have been losing some sleep lately (the past few weeks) due to the fact my car needed a lot of work. I went home on leave in August and came back to semi peeling clear coat on the rear quarter panel on the passenger side. No big deal, so I lived with it. It is/was an 03 DB. I got a few gifts from the wife to install in it:

Infinity Kappa components
MTX Mids
2 Kicker Comp 12's in a custom box
and a few (3) RF Amps
The head unit is a Kenwood DDX271

But being an 03 Z, my weatherstripping was shot. (no **** right?) I proceeded to make a list of what I would need to be able to install the speakers in the front without having water coming through them. The list included new A pillars (done did dat dere research), rear hatch seal and window seals for the driver's side as it was torn around the mirror and water was indeed underneath my spare tire. Buying an 03 Z, I definitely expected this anyway. I knew it was going to be a lot of work etc. so I didn't mind much.

Anyway.

After compiling the list, I forgot paint. Needing a quote, I called around for a bit and was not surprised as to how much they wanted (but the wife sure was!). You pay for what you get and I did not want to half *** it. Doing all of the math for the prep work/paint job, new weather stripping so that I can install all of my **** sitting on the living room floor, I was over it. Not to mention chasing the random misfire and what nots.

Needless to say, it was tired of me showing her what all I would need. So as a Christmas present besides the audio ****, she let me do a bit of shopping. (I consider it my re-enlistment present to myself though)

From Halogen's to HID's. From EBC's to Brembo's, from stock rims to 19's. From 03 6MT DE to 08 6MT HR.

I'm ****ing happy and it's probably the greatest Christmas present to myself, ever. I should have done this first but I really wanted a project car to work on by myself. However, everyone knows that time is man's worst enemy and I am back deploying again soon.

Default nice post, nice car but I don't get it

At the end you mentioned some options including DE to HR. Is this something you did or planning to do????

My opinion if you wish to take it. If those ^^^^ things are something you plan to do, I wouldn't do it. It's a nice car, sell it and get an 07 or 08 HR.

Too many reasons to mention for not doing it.......

I had an 08 and as far as performance/going fast in N/A form, it don't need much. Two days ago in new owners section I posted my mods in another HR owner's thread. The car and the mods have 5 years of proven positive results. Check them out. Only performance stuff.

Default Funny ****

I take the car to get it MD State inspected yesterday at 0930. I never got a call saying it was ready so I left the office at 1430 to help wash a friend's car and then wait on mine. We get done washing the car, head over to the shop inspecting it, and I still see my car on the lift.

I proceeded to wait 2 more hours after one of the service techs asked me what I was waiting on. Then, I get a phone call from the person at the desk literally 7.3 feet in front of me.

So, I answered the phone, naturally, and found out it was them. After they hung up, they started to explain why I failed inspection. My license plate lights were burnt out.

"I said ok, cool. Since you all have my car already how much would it be for you all to replace them?"

Tech: Well sir, 9 dollars for the lights themselves and then 25 dollars for us to replace them.

I told them to give me ****ing keys and I left. I drove down the street to Advance Auto, bought the lights and it took me maybe 1.5 minutes when I got home to slap new ones in. I will be taking it back to them today, since you have to take it back to the people who originally failed you for a re-inspect in MD. Wish me luck..................................
