Motordyne XYZ-Pipe (Pilot Production)
searched this thread with the keyword "dyno" but couldn't find a dyno between baseline and xyz pipe.
anyone have it? may think about getting it if there's marginal gains.
oh and strictly xyz pipe only, no MD exhaust.
edit: found a dyno of baseline (dashed lines) vs. xyz pipe (solid lines). At around 2k rpm there's a drop in torque. My question is, if i also have the ART pipes which increases tq at around that range, would a combo of art pipes + xyz pipe average out the loss from xyz pipe and gain from art pipes?

My plan (at the moment) is to stay with the stock ('04) mid-pipe back. I may upgrade to the TDX at a later stage.
However, i want to change the cats for HFC's and remove the crappy stock y-pipe, hence the XYZ.
I'm interested in volume and sound type/quality of the stock system attached to HFC's and the XYZ pipe. Or test pipes and the optional HFC on the XYZ.
I do not see how the rear o2's will connect up if i go for the latter option though. Is there a solution?

But yes, the ART pipes do make considerable low end TQ.

Hmm, ok, so basically, unless i run the ART pipes, i'd need to disable the post cat sensors to stop from throwing a code?
If i was to put the ART pipes and the XYZ pipe with the cat on an otherwise completely stock '04 car, what kind of gains and/or changes could i expect?
Also for sound, what kind of sound? raspy? loud? quiet etc?

Judging from my butt dyno (installed ART pipes, then added XYZ right after), XYZ lost some of the low end gains the ART pipes gave as it was VERY noticeable on butt dyno. The pull that you get from the ART pipes in low end was substantially reduced after installing XYZ pipe, and that's why I got rid of it ASAP. As for higher rpm, i'm sure there is positive gains for this combo. Hard to tell in higher rpm.
So my best bet would be a straight through XYZ on an otherwise stock system?

No, in that case, the sensors would simply stay in your stock cats.
If you get test pipes, then they would stay in the test pipes.
There is no need to move them to the XYZ pipe.
For an otherwise stock system, the straight pipe would be good to go.

I think getting the XYZ first and then upgrading to the ART's later might be on the books.
However, i would need to go HFC when i get the ART pipes, the pricing looks weird:
350Z XYZ w/Straight Pipe
Currently $383.04
Then HFC bolted on later with the ARTs
XYZ Catalytic Converter
Currently $239.04
TOTAL = $622.08

OR, if i buy the HFC version first, and the straight pipe at the same time, it would look like this:
350Z XYZ pipe with HFC
Currently $504.00
Remove HFC and bolt on the straight:
XYZ Straight Pipe
Currently $89.00
TOTAL = $593
Am i correct in this, or is the HFC permanently fitted to the XYZ if i buy them as the "kit" ?

Yes, you can purchase them in any order of combination to optimize cost.
All the modules are fully interchangeable and they fit exactly the same so you can easily switch or mix them as needed.
