Does anyone know how much louder my car would be if i switch out my HFC module of the XYZ to a straight? And how much more would the car smell?

That's all very dependant on circumstances, like how rich your car runs and how sensitive you are to smell etc etc.

The 350 runs pretty clean, so it won't smell to all heck like a mustang, for example.

It will be louder, but not much, you might find, depending on the rest of your exhaust, that you get a little rasp from the system.

Thanks... I have the Shockwave V1 + ART pipes. Did you have experience with the straights? Maybe some vids

I ran the resonator module, so can't comment on the noise level as much, but generally, the resonator smooths the sound and removes the rasp, though with that setup, any rasp it *may* have would be minimal.

I only have a vid of the ARTs + resonator pipe, but the rest of the system is stock.

Default Dimensions of the XYZ Pipe

I tried reading through this thread but after about 15 pages I gave up, so forgive me if this has been asked before. What are the dimensions (diameter) of the XYZ pipe, inlet and outlet with the resonator?

IIRC, inlet will be 2.5 and exit is 3 inches. About a quarter inch more than the stock mid section.

Regularly, it's mig and raw, if you get the 370 'special' version then it's tig and polished.

Not sure what you're on about, but the XYZ pipe that is tig and polished is part of the full E370 system for the 370Z.

Still not aware of the point you're making?

You don't buy the polished version normally, it only comes with the E370 special version, though i'm sure you could get one from MD if you asked.

the point im making is that im not paying 430 for and exhaust part made of a cheaper SS and low cost mig welding. might as well get it made at an exhaust shop.

the pic motordyne posted for the 350z is polished and tig welded and made with a better SS. it doesent say 370 anywhere in the link i posted and its from the 350z section.

so back to my question, which is really simple. if i ordered the y-pipe with resonator for the 350z, will it all be polished, tip welded and made from 304l SS?

if you dont know the answer, hopfuly motordyne will shine some light on it.

The picture there is polished yes, but i *think* it's their regular quality SS and mig welding, which is fine.

Why do you think they use tig, or that it's needed?

And yes, for a definitive answer on these specifics, MD would need to answer, i know they talked about increasing their SS qualities last year.

well, want to pay for a quality part. like the art pipes i have. all tig welded, polished and i believe they are coated.

mig welding is just a cheaper form of welding. just as strong, but visually it looks bad. tig welding is cleaner looking.

btw, that picture of them polished was posted before the 370 exhaust was ever released. just look at the first post in this thread.

side not, i dont want to pay top dollar for something just "fine". my top speed y-pipe is just "fine". i go to motordyne for "top shelf" quality.

Just FYI for search purposes. . . .

Motordyne ART pipes work with stock exhaust system (from Y-pipe back).

ART pipes hooks up to MD XYZ Y-pipe, but is not compatible with any stock or stock-sized exhaust midpipe and beyond (Y-pipe is 3" outlet, stock exhaust is 2.5").

ART pipes are different for DE vs HR, but Y-pipe and beyond is identical.
