Today Kwame and I took yet another drive up to CT (4th weekend in a row!) but this time, it was to pick up the car!
Here is what I had done this time
1. replace the Kenwood DDX7015 with McIntosh MX406 headunit
2. replace McIntosh MC431 with MCC406M amp (MC431 is now for sale!)
3. new seats! (took out the red Brides, which are sold now BTW, and replaced them with something ultra ultra rare!) - I'll see if someone can guess before I spill the beans
4. custom alcantera work for certain key interior spots (more on this in pics to come)
5. McIntosh sub bass controller (in the coolest spot ever!)
6. Sirius tuner mounted in factory cubby (my car has no nav) with stealth mounted antennea
7. drill out factory grilles and re-wrap in windsong
8. ran new power/ground wires (now 4 gauge) from cap to amp
I retained by Focal Utopia fronts, and SEAS Lotus 10 inch sub.
Now, my system before sounded really nice. But this is on a whole other level! The changeover from passive to active crossovers is a completely different world. The entire stage went from somewhat low to being right at ear level...it really is an amazing transformation! Everything is just more "there". I'm really really pleased with how it turned out. Plus, with the speakers all getting twice the power they were before, the volume levels we can achieve without any interference is really staggering.
If the weather is nice tomorrow I'll try to get some pics posted. It's certainly not very "showy" and that's exactly how I like it!
something very rare, and Japanese, but with a European influence
alrighty BUD, these seats better be the ****, your hyping them up so much...Its like waiting for my child to be born only they are sexy car seats.....and not all wet...and didnt come out of a woman.....well you get the idea
They are ASM Edition Recaro SR III Limited. Black Alcantera with grey center and red stitching. To make it all tie in well, I had the shift knob recovered, new shift boot made, ebrake done, and had the arm rests on the door all done in black alcantera with red stitch. I also had the McIntosh sub bass controller installed in place of the factory power mirror switch. Since I have the Craftsquares, the stock switch was useless anyway
I've been lusting after these seats for awhile now and the stars aligned and a set became available so I jumped on it. For those who don't know, ASM is a division of Autobacs in Japan, and is a boutique type store that is the largest Recaro dealer in Japan. They have literally hundreds of seats in stock at any one time. They sell so many, that they comission Recaro to build special ASM Edition seats for them. These all have special stitching and fabric and use memory foam for the cushioning vs the traditional spring and strap setup. The seats are really comfortable, and a bit bigger than my previous Brides, which is good for us US spec drivers. We're also now a dealer for ASM products, and they have some really cool stuff. Check the interior section of our site for pricing and pics, and also the exterior section for their new bumper/diffuser and hoods!
sorry for the crappy pics, I snapped em quickly inside
here is one from their site
let me know what you think! I'll have nicer pics posted later in the week if the weather is nice.
