It's a 2006. Anyway I Kinda ran into a mystery here with my brakes. A while ago my brakes started making some noise when I applied the brakes. Not a squealing, and not necessarily a grinding noise, but definitely a rubbing noise. I figured its time to change the brake pads.

So I pop off the driver side brake caliper and brake pads expecting to see barely any material left on the pad only to find that the brake pads have plenty of material left on them....?

What could be the issue here?

A couple notes...
- the shims are pretty beat up/rusted. Could that cause noise?
- also, a fair amount of rust around the caliper piston area. Could the calipers be not functioning correctly?

just try cleaing it. maybe even changing your brake fluid. they shouldn't make noise at all. are the pad even all the way across?

make sure the clips that hold the pads in place aren't pinched somewhere or out of place at all.

Is the rotor circumference heavily corroded?
