Default HELP!!! Sway Bar End Link Stuck!

Ok so I'm installing coilovers on my 05 and installation was going well on the front up until this point. All nuts/bolts came off easily but after taking off the nut that holds the sway bar end link to the lower control arm the bolt of the end link won't come out. I already finished the other side and I didn't run into this problem. I don't have enough maneuverability to get the stock strut out with the end link still attached to the control arm. Has anyone else had this happen? Please help soon!!!! Sorry if the pics suck. I'm doing all this from my phone.

It happens, it's because the other side has less droop now, put your jack under the balljoint and lift the suspension to take the load off the bar.

I replaced all my shocks/springs on my 04 and I'm pretty sure I didn't unhook the sway bars.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Oh yeah you can see the angle on the bolt. Jack the control arm up and it should slip right out like Terrasmak said.

When I replaced mine I believe I only had to unhook the upper control arm. I may have pulled the endlinks loose but I don't remember doing it. It's been a while.

Still no joy . I tried the jack under the ball joint and got the same result. I guess I'll try different heights and see if I can even the bolt out or perhaps knock it out with a hammer. In the meantime I'm open to any other suggestions.

Keep lifting the control arm till either you pick the car up or the bolt straightens out and comes out.

Are both front wheels off the ground?

If you knock it out with a hammer you risk flattening the threads. Then you get to buy new endlinks.

You need to jack it up higher, you can see the twist on the sway bar bolt. You can also disco the other side lower shock mount bolt. That will relieve tension from the side your working on.

I'm pretty sure that inner bushing on the control arm is worn out BTW, you can see the arm is off to the rear and angled. Make sure that both sides are off the ground, you can try to take it off at the top, before you go hitting it with a hammer of any sorts grab the nut and run it down a few threads and hit nut instead.

Your shock bushing is torn as well, should get that fixed when you get it out.

When I installed my sways I had both wheels off the ground and I gently lifted up in the CENTER of the sway bar with a jack and that allowed both endlinks to come out easy like pie from the oven......or something else easy.

Sorry for the late reply. The car has been sitting on stands while I was taking care of family and work stuff (just came home from deployment). Anyway both front wheels are up and with all other bolts in or out this thing still won't budge. I can't imagine where any other tension is coming from. I've disconnected the upper control arm and tried moving things around and nothing. I even had my wife turn the wheel. Nothing. I guess the only other option is to disconnect the sway bar link from the sway bar?

Did you try jacking up the side you aren't working on?

I finally looked at your username...

Are you in OKC or Tulsa? I don't remember?

Got a big pair of pliers you can grab the control arm with and twist it back straight up?

You mean from under the ball joint? I haven't done that yet. I'll give it a shot.

I do not. The only pliers I have are for relatively small jobs. Also I'm in OKC.

Dang. If you were in tulsa I would load up some tools and head on over to get you fixed up.

Do you have a C clamp? Anything that can grab the control arm and give you some leverage to twist it counter clockwise?

If you had it back straight between the brackets the endlink would probably fall right out. But since the bushing is torn it let it twist.
