Southbend Clutch. Who else has one?

I have the South Bend SS clutch/flywheel in mine. Great clutch kit! Coupled with their Wilwood HD kit made it beautiful. Drives completely different than with the stock clutch. Of course I'm only fully bolted, not FI so don't have any issues with mine slipping, not catching, etc.

The standard stage 3 DXD-B is a pretty stout kit and with the TQ you will make should be fine. If you plan on heavy drag racing/radials/slicks at the 700hp+ mark with it you may find you need more clamp load (Xtreme)

South Bend Stage 3 Endurance SS
Anyone have experience with this clutch? Been looking at this clutch for a while. Is a kevlar based clutch like this one bad for daily driving? I Just recently took out my Exedy stage 1 and it blows. I did however like the pedal but it started to get very soft after a while.

If you want something with great feel, good grab and great driving the stage 2 daily is your best bet (unless you're boosted)

Not gonna do any drag racing at all. My Z is just a daily. I Mostly drive City and lots of highway driving. Will this clutch hold up well for that? Ive got some bolt on parts.I do get on her sometimes but not much. I just want a really reliable clutch that will last me. Not like my Exedy stag 1. Should I just stick with the kevlar based stage 3 or go with the stage 3 daily? I called South-Bend and a worker told me he runs the kevlar endurance and he loves how it grabs and fells.

Stage 3 will not last any longer than a stage 2 kit, Just because it has a higher clamping force does not make it last longer. If you don't need to hold 500ftlbs of TQ there is no reason to buy a stage 3 clutch. Stage 2 is PLENTY of clutch for non boosted power levels and will be much more friendly on the street. The better it drives and the smoother it takes off the longer it will last as you are not bringing the RPM's up to just take off smoothly or without stalling the engine.
Nothing will beat a good quality organic lining. Kevlar is good but I prefer organic linings overall, They will recover from most "stupid moments" where Kevlar can be damaged by overheating it, Kevlar will not recover from an overheat well.
Clutch wear/Clutch life in almost ALL cases is driver dependent!
Clutches only wear when you're using it to shift or take off, A clutch spins at the same RPM as your engine anywhere from 700rpm to 7,500ish, If you slip a clutch a lot it will build heat very quickly and will wear fast esp at High RPM.
Think of it like this, Your brake rotors spin around 800 RPM at 60 MPH. Imagine how fast you would over heat and wear brakes out if you went 400MPH and rode the brakes constantly?

Run a southbend stage 5 with 675 whp, torque is @ about 600. Only issue I notice is sometimes after long drives the clutch gets a little temperamental when riding it from a stop where it gets a little grabby. Otherwise no issues as far as holding power. Next clutch after bigger turbo upgrade will be a twin disc though just to not have to worry about single plate holding capability.

Standard DXD-B should be good to around 700tq (Crank) or slightly higher. We can have the pressure plate made different in this kit to be good into the 800tq range. It is called the Xtreme version with more clamp load.
The standard stage 3 DXD-B is a pretty stout kit and with the TQ you will make should be fine. If you plan on heavy drag racing/radials/slicks at the 700hp+ mark with it you may find you need more clamp load (Xtreme)

An update. It didnt hold my power. Ordered and installed the Stage 4 Extreme clutch which is rated 800+ lb-ft. Hopefully this one holds my power.
