Here is another thread with an RX7 that a guy is trying to figure out a full undertray also. He posted some good diagrams that I was trying to explain but pictures are always beneficial haha.

Looks pretty good so far. Do you have a track nearby to run lap times and compare different designs? If you could tie the undertray in behind the tire so there's no holes under the car except vents. Have you though venting your rear bumper also to allow cooling for the diff?

the closest track is 4 hr drive.
that what i though about is 2 design
1-similar to pic 4 all mount point are under rear bumper with big vent in the middle like F360 so no diffuser sticking out side the car.
2-similar to pic 2, similar to varis diffuser for 350z. with a small gap between diffuser and rear bumper . or cut space in rear bumper between 2 tips
------
i would like to see if their is a top speed gain and gain stability at high speed as i would really like to see how its going to feel past 140mph. my top speed record in my z is 184 mph

I watched a documentary on race car design a while ago and it got me interested in doing something like this. I did a bit of research then decided to focus on other projects first. Glad to see somebody taking this on.
Would there be a benefit to using aluminum over carbon or carbon/Kevlar in the front and rear sections that will need more molding? I would think it would be easier to make a mold for the pieces and use carbon. Maybe I just don't like working with sheet metal.
the 7 degree info is very good to know. I had been aware of the need for the bottom not come down but didn't know exactly how.

this is my hand built diffuser . it hard to keep every thing straight with a duct tape but i tried to do my best, just to get an idea how it might look. the pice in the middle between the to fins it going to be a vent behind LSD to ward the end of diffuser molded with the under tray. also straight pice between to fins came to me from F1 diffuser
for the front i thought of making lip rather than a flat pice of aluminum sticking out . i know its nothing but just to through out some ideas
your thought please

looks like it's to low! The blades are gonna touch the grown when the car is under load. Depends on your suspension, but still you may need to trim it some. Other than that the idea is sound.
What gauge material are you gonna use?

On the GTR its 3 pieces and the rear piece is dry carbon fiber, the other 2 pieces are just a hard plastic. What about just making yours out of sheet metal or a thin aluminum, and then shop around to see if anyone can use your pieces to make a mold either plastic or carbon fiber?

the tech as we started he said carbon-aluminum what we are going to use and he claim each pice cost something close to 223 dollars ? then i when went around some aluminum shops to verify no one know this type of material or even deals with and their prices are 55 dollars for 1 sheet thats huge difference which makes me question the if the tech is quoting me way too much for materials to gain maximum profit of me
i need to know is what type of material dose the dodge viper use for its under tray ? because the tech side its same material , so i can by the material my self and continue my project
