Another GPS in cubby install
Hey all. After going back and forth on if I wanted a GPS in my car I finally pulled the trigger and bought one. My main reason for buying one is that I am moving next month to an apartment in an area that I am still kind of unfamiliar with and next year I am moving to Florida so I will really not know the majority of the roads.
After measuring my cubby as well as seeing what others have installed in their Zs I decided on the Garmin Nuvi 56LMT. The 4.3" GPS just look too small and the 5" looked like it would fit just right. Turns out it actually fit perfect! I first had the wire ran right out of the cubby for the first few days to just make sure I liked the GPS, which I did, but then not being able to close the door as well as seeing the wire started to drive me crazy.
So yesterday I took off the waterfall, snuck the wire around the radio through the side hole in the cubby, took a razor and shaved off a little bit of the rubber cover so the wire would fit, and done.
The GPS itself is actually not being held in place by anything. I actually pushed it to the back and slightly squeezed it into the cubby, and it is staying in that position by itself. Like I said, perfect fit. Now I can close the door as well as fit some stuff in front of the screen if I need space.

For a standard sat-nav and no reshaping of the cubby, its worked out really well, nice job.
I do love the sound of a Nismo exhaust.

Thanks!
I know it would have looked better if I ran the wire behind the GPS but I opted to just cut the rubber mat instead of having to cut the cubby itself, since I just left the left cover off underneath the mat for the wire to fit.
I can't wait to move there. Both me and the future wife love it so much there and I really hate NY. Going from the New York City area to Southwest Florida will be a nice change of tempo lol.
