Default finally.. repurpose your steering wheel buttons for Forced Induction!!!

Maybe you are like me. Have a bunch of things you want on switches but don't want to wire random buttons all over. So why not use the switches already on the steering wheel, that are already in the absolutely best position to access them!!?? I have an aftermarket radio, so they aren't getting use anyhow. But, you can certainly use the buttons to control the radio as well as run your switches with the easy install of a 3PDT switch (which Mark fully diagrams the wiring in the detailed install instructions)

So, I chatted up Mark at Accutach.com about making a steering wheel box for the G35/350z. He makes them for mustangs (http://www.accutach.com/Pages/CruiseButtonBox.aspx), and I figured it would not be much different since our switches are resistance based as well.

After sending him some resistance values and wiring info, he sent me a prototype box. And it works perfect.

Install is super easy. Took maybe an hour with all the solders.

In the G35, just pop the bottom of the shift console up. With an aftermarket radio, the harness you need is unplugged already and easy to get to. Terminal M39

Just connect RemoteA pin 22 and RemoteB pin 23 to the Accutach box, and run a ground wire to the ground pin 25.

Then run power and ground to the Accutach box. I used some velcro to mount the Accutach box on top of the VDC control box under the steering wheel.

From there you have 5 distinct switches for Vol+, Vol-, Mode, Power, and Seek+, Seek-

I am using the switches for rolling antilag and scramble boost. But they can also be used for anything like nitrous purge, line locks, 2 steps, lights, machine guns etc.

Anything you need a momentary switch for. If you need a latching switch, Mark has that covered as well with an add on box.

I have also attached the install .pdf. Pretty much everything I explained above.

So for $90, you can have 5 switches to control whatever you want, all in OEM functionality. Mark doesn't have them listed on his website www.accutach.com yet, but email him if you are interested. You know you want one!!!

The box works for all
2003-2006 350Z
2003-2006 G35 Sedan
2003-2006 G35 Coupe.

It could probably work with the 2007+ HR models of Z/G but Nissan got fancy and started incorporating alot more into their radios.

Pretty cool.

I did the same thing with my seat heater switches

wonder if I could add a steering wheel with buttons and use them since my car didn't come with buttons.

The base has the harness for steering buttons & they light up just from connecting. Cruise worked via revup flash of the correct rom.

Mods, thanks for moving this back This is focused for people with forced induction and significant power mods.

Specifically for triggering 2 step, antilag, line locks, nitrous functions etc...

How do you switch to use them? Is there a swaitch on the box? Or you lose the radio control with this?

I will install an aftermarket steering wheel and since the spiral cable is broken I will reinstall the buttons somewhere else.

Thanks for sharing.

basically the accutach box is taking the variable resistance signal from the switch and making it into a normal open/closed switch.

Should matter if the spiral cable is busted since you are going to relocate them anyhow.

Hopefully I'll have my rolling antilag setup as soon as the weather clears and I can post a quick vid of actually using the steering switches.

I think this would be awesome for a nitrous install.

it can work for anything that needs a external switch, either positive of negative trigger using a relay.
