Default Interest gauge: 350Z VQDE Long tube headers from Fast Intentions

Hello,

I am in talks with Tony Meyerson from Fast Intentions to design, test and manufacture SS long tube headers with proper merge collectors for the 350Z. They already have a set out for the 370Z which has been proven:

http://www. the 370z .com/intake-exhaust/12436-fast-intentions-long-tube-headers-here.html

Tony is interested to see who would be willing to pay for long tube headers. Please post in this if you are interested. If there is enough interested, we may be able to have a set of great headers at an excellent price...

If proven performance is there, with a quality collector and welds, with a quality ceramic coating, at a REASONABLE price... And with a reasonable install... people will be all over it.

But the biggest thing is gains vs End Price.

The current shorty headers set up that is out is at a reasonable price, but because the install is a ***** which the common person cant or wouldnt want to install themselves, and professional install is a Pretty Penny, people are saying that the gains are not worth how much you are spending after everything.

Exp: Headers $500 + install at $400 = $900 for about 10hp

I know those are really rough numbers, but you get what im talking about.

Ive installed Shorty headers on at least 3 g35s, and I can tell you from experience that the install is not fun and takes forever. Alot of those nuts and bolts cannot be reached with air tools, so alot of the work is with wrenches with only being able to make 1/8th turn at a time. So im sure the LT headers will be just as hard, if not harder to install.

And in regards to professional installers who have installed headers before, Ive called around the SOCAL area and the cheapest install for shorty headers on a 350z is $400. I can imagine that LT headers will be more for install.

SS headers do release more heat than oem headers, so the underhood temp will go up, which will shorten the life span on a couple items in the engine bay. Thus. if im about to spend some money on headers that is gonna cost around $1000 after install, I would expect the headers to already be ceramic coated.

So to sum up everything I just said....

Install has to be the same if not EASIER than the shorties
Quality collector
Ceramic coated
And gains have to be more than 15hp to the wheel on a bone stock test vehicle

And keep in mind, the masses want the most amout of HP for the least amount of money.

So if this is gonna cost more the $1000 after install for only ~15hp, the majority of the enthusiast community will not invest in this product.

Thats my $.02

I would be very interested, as long as the gains are decent, and it's a reasonable price. I don't care too much if it's a ***** to install.

Headers are a pain to install. I had to use a bunch of extensions and joints to get to the studs. If I didn't have a set installed already, I would be in for a set of longs.

And if there is much to be gained over my current headers, I may be swayed to remove them and upgrade to these. Depends on how much better they are.

Short tube header install takes me about 3-4 hours alone, 2 hours with help. Ebay long tubes I have now 6 hours alone. Its not that hard.

How much better performance can long tube headers give over shorty headers paired with test pipes/HFC's?

It all depends on the intake setup and your tune. Its hard to say what the average person can get without a working setup. Ill call FI on Monday and see what they say
