Blast Pipe Mini-Build

Blast Pipe Mini-Build
I removed my muffler about a month ago and loved the sound, so I've designed a blast pipe to run the exhaust out the back and not melt my plastic inner fender well. It will connect to the factory midpipe and exit towards the driver's side. This thread was my initial inspiration: https://my350z.com/forum/exhaust/557...er-delete.html
More inspiration came from these cars (the last one is Canada_Z on this forum):

The blast pipe will be routed much like the first white Z above, with similar angle and protrusion. Vibrant flanges & gasket will be utilized, along with this huge 4" by 22" tip:

I spent just enough to qualify for free shipping, so parts should arrive late this week. Tomorrow I'll make a trip to Home Depot for hardware and do a bumper tuck while I'm waiting for the boxes. The old muffler and some other junk will be handed in at the metal recyclers to help recoup some costs. I'm also looking at relocating/trimming the factory heat shield to protect the underbody/rear bumper a little better. If all goes well it'll be welded up & driving down the street by Sunday .

Landon I agree, it looks very clean and nicely done.
Today the metal scrapyard gave me 19 bucks for my muffler and assorted junk. I thought they'd be worth more, but I'm normally too optimistic haha. After I picked up the hardware, my landlord and I bumper tucked both our Z's. They came out very well with 4 screws in each bumper. The whole process including measuring, Sharpie marking, pre-drilling, and installation took less than an hour for both cars.

Dmsec, I know you're secretly jealous haha.
So UPS delivered the exhaust goodies on Thursday, and today I took the Z to get the exhaust welded. I found a positively reviewed shop that had a drive-on lift and drove on over. After the car was on the lift we mocked up the exhaust and the necessary cuts/welds/etc. were made. We decided to keep the factory rear flange on the midpipe, since the factory pipe won't happily expand on a tubing expander. The Vibrant 3" flange bolted up beautifully to the OEM flange. We also retained the use of the factory driver's side exhaust hanger, as seen in the last picture below. About an hour and $60 later, my exhaust was complete. Enough words, time for pictures!
Nearly complete on the lift:
Complete in the driveway:

Detail of welds and hanger:
I'm extremely happy with how it came out . As I should have anticipated, the exhaust note is slightly deeper and seemingly less raspy, although there was no rasp before? The diameter change from 2.5" to 3" to 4" is probably responsible for the lower sound, and I love it! Time to go for a drive and enjoy it .

Go7roo7, I'll try to get video of it once I have access to a good video camera (hopefully this week). Worst case I'll have a GoPro to use after I come home from college on the 29th. I'll try to film warm start, idle, takeoff, and regular/fast drive-bys. The car sounded nice driving through Detroit on Friday night, and underpasses made it echo and sound like an exotic car.

Heh I knew it'd get a few polarized reactions. It wouldn't be a blast pipe if it didn't stick out obnoxiously far. The tasteful mods are after this one I guess haha. I'll be keeping this muffler delete and making a unique midpipe with loud & quiet mode in a few months. Also in the works are some MB Battles (to replace these gaudy 20's ) and the Eibach Sport-Plus kit, which includes springs and rate-matched sway bars.
