I've owned my "05" for less than week. I got it with 101,291 on her so I'm expecting some maintenance.
So far just bank1 sensor2 O2 sensor under the dealer warranty.

bought an 03' Touring MT last week with 103k. The car is immaculate other than an occasional grind in 3rd. Was told by a transmission shop than the blocking rings needed to be replaced(synchros) and would be about $1k. Other than that the car just idles low from the JWT popcharger and has straight pipes for exhaust(cats and resonator still intact).

Hey Burnish,
For $1000.00 repair, I would rather just spend the extra $200-500 and get a used or rebuilt MT tranny from an 06+. MT transmissions for these guys really aren't that expensive. I've seen plenty of low mileage used ones for sale(pretty cheap) from local Nissan Wreckers. A lot of people talk about the early MT transmissions having issues, but the newer ones appear to be pretty solid. Just something to think about.

NOTE: My list is short and the experience of one owner. Read this thread to receive the most comprehensive reliability and repair reports for the 350z: https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-n...liability.html

Over the 8 years that I have owned my Z the following has been done:
Passenger door lock replaced (under warranty)
Rear axle-click (under warranty)
Rear hatch struts replaced
Battery replaced after 3 years
Throttle body replaced (most likely due to me over-oiling my old JWT PopCharger)
Other than that she's been perfect

mostly oil and fluids on my behalf.
There was a tbone accident where the lady ran a red and that cost my insurance 10k to replace the body panels, airbags, suspension, wheels, and Rear subframe.
but my car only has 21k miles and is a 07

Bought my 04 350z with 69k miles. Unknown what was replaced/fixed by last owner. I had the Dealer replace driver power window module and rear shocks for the trunk before purchase. At 73K miles i had to replace my rear wheels studs. Picked up a set of ARP extended studs. Had the rear axles re greased while replacing rear studs cause they were clicking when accelerating from a stop.

The entire clutch assembly has been garbage since day 1. Shame on Nissan. Some day I'll replace it.
So far, the car's had the following replaced (currently @ 27,000 miles)
Both catalytic converters - crapped out before 19K
Tires (replaced at 23K)
Alignment & re-balanced (at 24K) - Car drives SO MUCH BETTER NOW!
Brakes (replaced at 26K)
Bose system (replaced at 100 miles)
That's it. The car's actually been really good for the most part.

As one of the original pre-order '03 owners, this Z has been extremely durable. Despite multiple track days and over 92K on the odo, the biggest issue (resolved under warranty at about 35K) was the switch to a CD009 tranny. Other issues I've dealt with include one window motor replaced at 75K and a radiator cap at 80K. I've also trashed two underbody splash shields, but that's on me.
Of course, I've also modded the suspension, interior and stereo system, but those weren't in need of repair.
