350z window motor does not have reset button
Like the title says, my 350z window motor does not have an actual reset button. It has a black button that looks like it should work but after about 15 tries of using it I realized that the button isn't actually pressing anything. Look at the pictures included with this...
I purchased this window motor from orielly's and cannot get it to properly calibrate.
This is the view with the fake button removed.

I'm not saying that it's not defective but it is not an electronic button. It mechanically holds something inside by friction. It has been over two years since I've had one apart so I don't know how to help you look at the internals but take a closer look at it. It does seem strange that you got two in a row...
When you calibrate it and are holding down the "button" it just puts friction on the white plastic ring so it is "dragged" to the limits of the other rings or gears around it - whatever else is in there. It somehow resets where all of the gearing hits the actual electronic limit switch for the end of travel. It's been a long time. I don't know if there are any pictures out there showing this. I know I cannot explain it because I only got an idea of how it worked and kept going. I had one button come off or get stuck in the past and had to figure out how it worked but not in great detail.
Just try the calibrate procedure again. If you cannot get it, post which one you are using. I am aware of two of them and the step by step is just a little different. Also it is very easy for you to miss one of the steps. Can't remember which one it is without it in front of me. This is something I could probably point out to you ( the two different ones I've seen) if they are still floating around on the site or on my PC at home or in my notebook. Let us know how it goes.
