Default My NEW 5" thick FMIC mounted... PE TT 6MT Sedan

Hey guys

Many of you know the story of my car from way back when

I got the PE TT kit when it first came out. THe turbos on that kit, I still maintain are of extremely high quality, and we have been able to make decent power with hit up to about 13-14psi of boost.

But going any higher than that, it appeared that the intercooler, being on a smaller side for those high boost levels, was beginning to be a bit inefficient..

Enter the new FMIC.

I acquired, with hte help of George (aka George@GTM), a new FMIC, and it's dimensions and characteristics definitely scream "over the top", at least in my opinion. It's an aftermarket FMIC upgrade intended to be a bolt on for the R34.

Myself, George, and our friend Kevin, spent EIGHT hours yesterday installing this FMIC on my car. It started out by just being a "test-fitting" session, and at some point we just threr down the gauntlet and started playing for keeps... and finished the installation.

The reason I say this is, as you know, these kinds of projects involve lots of custom fabrication. Thank God for Kevin on this one. He has got a welder and the welding skills to boot, which let us finish the project in one day.

Dimensions:
PE-spec ARC Intercooler: 22.3" (W) x 10.3" (H) x 2.5" (D)
New bar and plate intercooler: 24" (W) x 11" (H) x 5" (D)

OK...thats hot. Screw my lust for the Legacy GT, I wanna find out if I can drop a built (none HR) in a new AWD G35 Sedan and have it bolt up.

The FMIC is definitely working...Haven't measured the IATs yet, but surely it makes a difference, a huge one. I can already feel a minor gain in power. The major gain is going to come when we can advance timing a bit, given the detonation propensity will be wayyyyyy lower. After some boosted runs, you would touch the intake side ofteh IC, it would be hot, while the exhaust side of the IC would be literally COLD (not even warm)...this baby is working.

I hope to post some videos soon...yesterday I fianlly saw my car from the outside being driven by Geroge...wow it's truly humbling...the whole package, exhaust, turbos, sound very mean...definitely no longer a sleeper of ANY kind.

Also...do you guys think I should get the heat dispersant coating put on this baby?

It'd be nice to do some before and after comparisons!

The bigger the FMIC, the smaller the pressure drop...it's near zero with this thing.

I thought my 4+31+11 looked huge against the stock Vortech IC.....that thing is FAT !!!!!
