Default Doing Nav-cubby install, please tell me what this piece is!!

Ok, I have an 06. I purchased Courtesy's "06 Nav Cubby" with the motorized door.

I'm nearing the end of this mod. The large hole from the OEM Nav controls is stil there. I know there is a cover available except that I cannot for the life of me figure out where to get it...

(red arrow in pic, pointing at the trim piece in someone else's car)

Any ideas? A part number? Is this trim cover all I will need to "close" the open space in the NAV cubby left behind by the OEM Nav controls?

Thx in advance!

K...thx for the info. I've heard this term before though.

No one ever seems to know what I'm talking about when I say "Nav Finisher".

Do you have a link? Or a part number? Or the name of a store or dealer where it can be purchased?

Thx!

Performance Nissan (unfortunately their site is still down). But any dealership parts department should be able to get you one easily. I'd bring that pic with you and stop at the delaer parts dept.

If you really really can't get one let me know.

K I'll check again and see if they can figure out what this part is, or if they can get it individually.

Thx!

Awesome, thanks!!!!

So this little piece is designed to cleanly cover the blank space where the OEM nav controls usually reside, correct?

Why do they make this piece in the first place? Glad they do, but it just seems odd since why would someone need a Nav Finisher if they actually have the OEM Nav? Did they really anticipate this specific modding trend? Pretty cool if they did!

Thanks again!
-Smoky

PS: I was trying for an hour to respond to the post regarding the part number for the door. But I couldn't get into the forum! lol Thx HBenet!

The Nav finisher is for cars without the Nav. The empty pocket is there and the finisher covers a screw or something as I recall.

But wouldn't a car without Nav have a non-Nav cubby, which has it's own finisher?

Can you tell me whether the motorized function work in your 06? IIRC people were having trouble getting the cover to open when you turn on the ingnition and close when you turn off the car. Thanks!!!

Not meaning to argue at all...cuz I'm happy to have found someone who knows what the piece is! lol But I still don't know why a non-Nav vehicle would need a "Nav Finisher" unless as somepoint all Zs had the same Nav cubby, but some were "plugged" and others were filled with Nav screen and controls.

I mean, my cubby has a finisher (little rubber pad lining the bottom, and also capping the screw holes). But it isn't a Nav Finisher. It's a much bigger piece. The Nav Finisher seems like it is just a small rectangle that covers the open space.

Maybe it'll make more sense once I get ahold of one.

And to the others:
Yes, it is the motorized door.

And yes, the plan is to have the door open/close when I press the door button, and close when I shut off the car. A forum buddy helped out and for a small fee built a microprocessor to replace the one in the Nav Lid Cluster Amp. This circuit should replace the "Nav Brain" that the motorized door was previously dependent on for operation.

I'll ping the guy to see if he wants more business and follow-up here.

Thx

Ok, here's the OEM Nav:

Here is Courtesy's 06 Motorized Nav Door:

Confirmed today that it is a perfect color match for my interior. It is not installed, but held it up against the center console in the light and my eyes couldn't see a difference.

I do not know if this will fit in anything besides the 06, as it is only labeled "06" on Courtesy's site. However I would assume it should. Lots of folks buy this lid. Perhaps call Courtesy or Nissan Performance Parts.com to confirm.

Cheers,
-Smoky

PS: No pics of my own parts at the moment as I dropped them off this morning with the shop doing the work. I tried to do this myself and it looked like a 5 yr old did it. So now it's with the pros. I should have everything back next week and then I just need to install the door and wire it all up. Pics should be coming soon.
