Annoyance with air/heat system
Anyone notice how it reverts back to outdoor air everytime you turn the car off? I'll set it to recycle and later I notice the stench of CO2 only to see it has reverted back to outdoor air mode. Just me? Annoyance or a legit complaint (flaw)?

I totally agree.
I like to recirculate the air but not with A/C on.
You cannot do that and that is annoying. I for one would like it corrected.
Is it possible?

What a coincidence! I was going to post something along the same lines as this today myself.
I have a small gripe that the compressor kicks on every time you turn the fan control on. That should be up to the driver, and IMHO it should NOT come on automatically.

The so-called "automatic" climate control on my Z is worthless.
It's almost always too hot in the car. Here the high's are in the 50's yet I have to keep the temp control cranked down to 60 all the time, or be forced to have the A/C run. I shouldn't need the A/C when it's friggen 50 degrees outside.

Just so you know, thre reason it does that is so the HVAC unit doesn't get trapped with moisture and creates that mildew smell. This is actually a good thing. Most cars don't do this and in time it creates that unwanted smell. I myself am happy it does this.

Solution:
turn CC and the fan off and roll the windows down :coo:. Anyway, I like the fact that our cars will not get the mildew smell.
My CC seems to work fine, never too hot unless i adjust the temp to make it hot. But then again, i dont have seat warmers in my car

Yaaaaaa. That will get rid of the CO2 stench of bumper to bumber traffic.
Looks like there was method to the madness. Will have to live with it and remember to switch it back. The CO2 smell is a good reminder to do this...

is this same exact thing. I actually took it to the dealer thinking it was some problem, or at least was fixable.
The dealer explained that it was the "auto" controls "outsmarting" us. Excuse me, I wanna set the controls my own damn self, thank you, fogged windows be damned.

The recirc control can be set to manual or auto mode. According to the manual, it starts off in auto mode but selecting the mode manually will keep it in that mode. You can switch back to auto mode by pressing and holding for a couple of seconds.
I also find that you have to use the AC even when the temp is in the high 50s. Keep everything on auto all the time and it seems to work fine. (In most cars with climate control, you don't worry about turning the A/C on and off; it does it for you. So just leave it on all the time and don't worry about it.)

Actually, I'm one of the seemingly few people that NEVER accidentally turns on the seat warmers. I don't know what sort of arm shapes those other folk have but my arms don't even try to press those buttons in when Im driving?

It sounds like the Z is operating just like any other car that has an auto climate system. The A/C compressor is almost always on, and recirc is purposefully minimized.
For those of you with complaints about the system, is the Z the first car that you've had with an auto system? My Aurora didn't even have a recirc option, and my wife's Grand Cherokee will only keep recirc on if the outside temp is significantly different than the inside one. Supposedly this is to discourage the recirculation of bad air.

I hate how the A/C indicator comes one whenever I turn on the fans. The temperature I set is about 75 degrees, and it's pretty darn cold here in KS right now.
I remember seeing the trip computer warning me it was 35 degrees out with the ICY warning indicator.

Ya this annoys me, but what REALLY annoys me is that the freaking A/C turns on everytime I change hte **** or turn on the car. Heck, ever think that I want the car to maintain my temp (auto) and not eat up my gas mileage?!?! So annoying.
