Here's what it looks like with just the fronts on.
Thanks for posting the pic of a CS with the back ones off. That is what my Z looks like. I obviously think this is the best option: on in the front; off in the back.

jl215 asked how to take them off. There's just a few screws and threaded clips that hold them on. It's real easy to take them off. Save them for when you sell the car since the next owner might want them.

Whenever you turn your wheel that much, the profile of your tire always decreases. All my tires had/have the proper tire pressure (35psi).

Ummm....that's Silverstone!

That's the cool thing about SS....it looks like CS on bright sunny days, and gunmetal on overcast days. Just depends on what light it's in/under.

Shift_Speed,

Like many on this thread, I struggled with whether I should install splash guards or not. In fact, at one point I actually bought them with plans to put them on. Some would say they are a necessary evil. Others say they're ugly (myself included). While others feel they enhance the looks of the car. Since I don't like how they look, but still want to protect the paint in vulnerable areas, I decided to have custom clear bra (3M stuff) material put in the stone chip prone areas. My installer only charged me $10.00 per wheel area, installed. It looks just like the factory installed film around the front of the back wheel well area. I feel I've got the best of both worlds: protection from stones and a clean looking Z. Hope this helps!

Stone Z,

Good point about the Silverstone color on sunny or cloudy days. I bought a chrome silver, but, damn, everytime I see a silverstone I have regrets because of the observation you just made. That gun metal look kicks ***!

i say go with the splash guards. they will protect your car and in the long run, you will be glad you have them. also, i think that you should either have all 4 guards on or all 4 off. i think that if you leave either the front only or rear only, it'll give a lop-sided look to the car. i have the splash guards on my ss350z and will leave them on, unless i lower it, in that case i will remove them.

SS wasn't even my first color choice, but it's definitely my favorite now. Especially after how I've seen the way it reacts in different light.

Hey, you're right! My bad. You've got the best of both worlds.

I just had the splash guards installed but I think I will be removing the rear ones. They seem to stick out rather far and disrupt the natural curve of the fender. The front ones look great though.

I was on a group run to palomar once where there was some melting snow. When the run was over i took a look at all the cars without the guards and all the cars WITH and found that the amount of water and debris that made it to the side of the car was about the same for all! The guards, I believe, after this brief and unscientific observation are not designed well... you may have to just go for personal preference on looks. Just IMO!

Mine came with them, and the very first thing I did when I got my Z was take them off.

I think they look fine on trucks, but not sports cars.

I like the look of the flaps front and rear.....I will be leaving mine on due to the amount of sand and rocks on the streets here in AZ.

I ordered my 350Z with no Splash Guards because the rears look terrible and spoil the lines of the car. However, a month later, I ordered a set of fronts from Courtesy Parts and love them. My advice is to only install the fronts and forget those terrible rear Splash Guards.

I ordered the splash gaurds w/o really thinking twice about it, but i think they look fine and if they will prevent some paint damage then it is def. worth it to me, still i am considering removing the rears.

Honestly, I dont even notice mine. I think they go well with the car. I have never heard anyone say, "Man, those splashguards are ugly!" If you got em, why not use em? You could be saving serious money from paint damage. I do have one complaint though.... Who's bright idea was it to paint the tire-side of the guards? Mine havent chipped yet, but I am sure they will. Why not some rubberized or black plastic coating in the wheel well?

I don't care for the guards on much of any car. What I plan to do is, in the process of putting on the clear bra for the front, have the installer run a strip of 3M plastic down the length of the rocker panels.

It's cheaper and I don't have to put up with the guards.

I prefer none, but they have an interesting look, so I can see how so many people like them.

My one-month old Silverstone Performance didn't come with splash guards from the factory, but the dealer agreed to order a set and throw them in at no cost to me. They came in last week and I've been debating the whole time whether to have them installed or not.

I decided to go ahead and have them installed, and did so yesterday. I'm still unsure if I really like them, but they do look like a part of the car. Not bad.

Before installing them one does have to drill one hole for each to be mounted. Although it's possible to remove them, you'll have four new screw holes in the car if you do.
